SBS Holdings buys Atlas Logistics for Rs 150 cr

Japan based logistics company SBS Holdings is buying out 80% stake in Atlas Logistics of Bangalore, the deal size is close to 150 crores.

Japan based logistics company SBS Holdings is buying out 80% stake in Atlas Logistics of Bangalore, the deal size is close to 150 crores. This marks yet another global player’s entry into the Indian logistics business which is attracting attention worldwide.

Kotak Investment Banking advised SBS Holdings while KPMG was on the sell side for the deal. SBS Holdings was keen on entering the Indian market to take advantage of buoyant trade between India and Japan. With Atlas buyout SBS Holdings has got into the freight forwarding business in India.

The entry by SBS Holdings is the third conspicuous deal by a Japanese company in the Indian logistics space after Hitachi arm bought Flyjac and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) picked up about 26% stake in Tata Steel subsidiary TM International last year.
