Scientists and experts will discuss the R&D needs for mineral processing and mines during a day-long workshop being organised by Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) at its headquarters here on Thursday.

NAGPUR: Scientists and experts will discuss the R&D needs for mineral processing and mines during a day-long workshop being organised by Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) at its headquarters here on Thursday.

The workshop will obtain feedback from participants on benefication and in-plant studies, plant auditing and other services of IBM and also discuss its achievements, institute's Chief Ore Dressing Officer Andrakant Gundewar said today.

The ore dressing division of IBM has set up a modern mineral processing laboratory and a pilot plant here, incorporating sophisticated equipment for mineral benefication, chemical analysis, mineralogical examinations and environmental studies, Gundewar said.

Delegates from companies like HCL, Managanese Ore India, Steel Authority, SESA, Goa, ACC, Tata Steel and Madras Cement would participate in the workshop.

Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Reasearch Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) Director Jyoti Mukhopadhyay will inaugurate the workshop while IBM Controller General C M Ambesh will preside over it, he added.
