Vigilance raids sponge iron unit of steel & power firm

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha vigilance police today raided the sponge iron unit of a steel and power company in Keonjhar district for alleged illegal mining.

"Officials are verifying the plant's records relating to operational and financial transactions. They have also seized some documents of the plant," said vigilance SP S B Mishra.

"We are trying to arrest people allegedly involved in the mining scam," he added.

Meanwhile, the Steel and Mines department has cancelled all licences of the company following official reports of the scam.
