Vedanta Aluminium, a subsidiary of Vedanta group on Thursday launched the Copper-Doped Alloy and Vedanta Foundry Alloy (VFA), under its Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA) range. The materials are catered towards automotive applications.

According to the company, the Copper-Doped Alloy was developed for high performance automotive applications. The strengthening properties of copper allow enhanced durability, wear resistance, and performance at higher operating temperatures, making it applicable for engine, transmission, and powertrain components.

Meanwhile, the Vedanta Foundry Alloy (VFA), a material jointly developed with IIT Delhi, combines lightweighting with higher strength, improved corrosion resistance, and enhanced casting performance, making it suitable for a wide range of conventional and electric vehicle applications, states the release.

The firm launched its two new products at AutoEdge 2026, its exclusive conclave for the automotive industry.

According to the company, the two new offerings have been developed to support the automotive industry's growing requirements for vehicles that are lighter, more efficient, and more resilient vehicles.

The company claims it is positioned to become the world’s largest primary billet producer with a capacity of 1.25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), on completion of the ongoing capacity expansion at the BALCO plant in Korba, Chhattisgarh.

The firm says it is India’s largest PFA producer with an existing capacity of 380 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) and its automotive portfolio comprises of PFA offerings used in alloy wheels, cylinder heads, engine components and other automotive castings, along with specialised billets for HVAC applications and crash-resistant engineering applications.
