Tamin inks pact with Manomaniam Sundaranar
Tamil Nadu Minerals (TAMIN) has signed an MoU with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University to provide scientific know-how for exploiting beach placer ( heavy) minerals.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Minerals (TAMIN) has signed an MoU with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University to provide scientific know-how for exploiting beach placer ( heavy) minerals. Tamin is engaged in the exploitation, processing and marketing of granite and other minerals such as limestone, vermiculite, quartz, feldspar, Indian standard sand and graphite.
The pact seeks to establish the revenue potential, generate employment for rural people and develop human resources for the mineral industry. Currently, beach sands are extracted and processed physically for exporting 100% without any value-addition.
Tamin also proposes to set up down-stream units for better utilisation of the unique minerals instead of exporting them in raw forms. The new venture is the first-of-its-kind an industry-varsity collaboration for both Tamin and the university, to tap the scientific knowledge and make it socially relevant, an official release said on Wednesday.
