SC seeks centre's view on PIL challenging Cairn-Vedanta deal

Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Centre seeking its response to a petition challenging the $8.5-billion Cairn-Vedanta deal.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Centre seeking its response to a petition challenging the $8.5-billion Cairn-Vedanta deal and seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

A bench comprising Justice DK Jain and Justice Anil R Dave on Monday also sought government's response to the plea that also seeks an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General into the various aspects of the deal.

The court has sought replies from the ONGC, Cairn Energy and Vedanta Resources, which have been made parties in the petition filed by a Bangalore resident Arun Kumar Agarwal.
