Round 14: 49 bids for 24 coal blocks

New Delhi : The coal ministry on Tuesday said it has received 49 bids for 24 coal blocks in the 14th round of commercial auction, against the 41 blocks offered. A total of 11 companies participated in the auction process, including Reliance Industries, Axis Energy Ventures, Telangana Power Generation Corporation, Singareni Collieries Company, Sai Surya and Mohit minerals.

According to the ministry, five new entrants bid for the first time under the commercial coal mining regime.

The bids will now be evaluated by a multi-disciplinary technical evaluation committee. Technically qualified bidders will be shortlisted for participation in the electronic auction.


"The continued response to commercial coal block auctions underscores the coal sector's pivotal role in supporting industrial growth, and strengthening energy security," the ministry said.
