PMK wants views on Tata project to be made public
The state government should make public the views and recommendations of officials and the residents of Sattankulam, the site where the Tata Group's proposed titanium project would come up, ruling DMK's ally PMK demanded on Wednesday.
Party leader G K Mani said he had come to know that the majority of the residents of Sattankulam in Tuticorin district were against the project.
The people were "worried and anxious" over the possible impact of the project. The real facts about the project should be made public, he added.
PMK leader Ramadoss said he had visited the area and gathered the views of the residents. He would soon pass on the feedback he had received to the Chief Minister.
He demanded the government should seriously consider linking all the rivers in Tamil Nadu so that more water could be made available at each part of the state.
He also wanted the government to take stern steps to stop smuggling of sand to Kerala.
