New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) has increased coal production and dispatches as rains eased, with output on September 8 rising 67% and supplies 75% from the average levels recorded during September 1 to 3. This has eased supply disruption for power plants in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Coal India said in a statement on Wednesday. NCL produced 51.43 million tonnes of coal till September 8 while its supplies stood at 55 million tonnes. About 87% of its supplies are made to the power sector.
