NMDC’s Bailadila Iron ore mine-Bacheli Complex bags FIMI Golden Jubilee Award

The Company has undertaken Green House Gas (GHG) Assessment and disclosure of carbon emissions.

KOLKATA: NMDC’s Bailadila Iron ore mine-Bacheli Complex has bagged FIMI Golden Jubilee Award for Excellence. The award was given on basis of best practices adopted, improvement over the last 10 years, environment management, social awareness, health and safety, overall mine performance and its exemplary Reclamation & Rehabilitation (R&R) efforts.

The award was presented by Piyush Goyal, Minister for State (Independent charge) for Mines, Power, Coal, New & Renewable energy and received by Arun Kumar Shukla, Executive Director & Project head of BIOM-Bacheli Complex, NMDC Limited.

Bailadila Iron Ore Mine, Bacheli Complex, in the remote district of Dantewada (South Bastar) of Chhattisgarh State, is a mechanized open cast iron ore mine having annual production capacity of 14million tonne per annum (mtpa) with daily loading capacity of 6,0000 tonne. NMDC Limited has been continuously working towards sustainable development and installed Sewage Treatment Plant with SBR Technology at Bacheli.

The Company has undertaken Green House Gas (GHG) Assessment and disclosure of carbon emissions. Since opening the iron ore mine in 1964, NMDC has worked in the tribal areas of Bastar. It runs an ITI at Bhansi, Polytechnic College at Geedam (Dantewada). It is also set-up and operating one of the world class Education Hub at Jawanga (Dantewada District) and has supported the local people especially in the areas of education, medical care and infrastructure development.
