NMDC Ltd is eyeing exploration and development of mineral assets in South Africa

NMDC Ltd is eyeing exploration and development of mineral assets in South Africa through its joint venture with Kopano Logistics Services (Proprietary) Ltd.

Earlier, the two partners --NMDC Ltd and Kopano Logistics Services (Proprietary) Ltd established a 50:50 joint venture company--Kopano-NMDC Minerals (Pty) Limited ---to undertake exploration and development of mineral properties in South Africa.

The board meeting of Kopano- NMDC Minerals (Pty) Limited was held earlier this week on Wednesday in Hyderabad. With clarity appearing on the new mining law 2018 of South Africa, the joint venture company is actively scouting for exploration and development of various mineral assets in South Africa, an official statement from NMDC said on Friday.


While NMDC has been keen on acquiring coal assets in South Africa, the it was also tipped to look for other mineral assets including steel-making minerals like, iron ore and manganese.
