NMDC gets National Safety Award (Mines) for the year 2011

NMDC Limited has received the National Safety Award (Mines) for the year 2011 for its Bailadila Iron Ore Mine, Bacheli Complex.

KOLKATA: NMDC Limited has received the National Safety Award (Mines) for the year 2011 for its Bailadila Iron Ore Mine, Bacheli Complex in recognition of the Longest Accident Free Period.

The award was received by Narendra Kothari, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NMDC Limited and P R G Nair, the senior-most nominated workmen representative from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at a presentation ceremony held recently. Kothari said that the award recognizes the company for implementing scientific methods of mining at all projects to ensure zero accidents.

The country’s largest iron ore miner, NMDC, has been producing more than 30 million tonne of iron ore every year from its mechanized mines at Bacheli Complex, Kirandul Complex, Kumaraswamy and Donimalai. It also operates a mechanized diamond mine at Panna, Madhya Pradesh.
