NALCO resumes normal alumina output

National Aluminium Co Ltd has resumed normal production at its alumina refinery, which was hit by a coal shortage last week, a company official said Monday.

BHUBANESWAR: National Aluminium Co Ltd has resumed normal production at its alumina refinery, which was hit by a coal shortage last week, a company official said Monday.

"On Sunday, we produced about 4,300 tonnes of alumina and on Monday we are close to 4,500 tonnes -- the full capacity of the refinery," a senior company official, who did not want to be named, told the media from Damanjodi.

Output at the alumina refinery at Damanjodi in the eastern state of Orissa fell by half last week and the company had said the unit would be shut if coal supplies did not improve in a few days.
