Lanco Infratech to develop Tasra coal mine for SAIL

The project envisages coal extraction at the Tasra mine located at Jharia in Jharkhand, with geological reserves of about 250 million tonnes.

NEW DELHI: Lanco Infratech will develop the Tasra coal mine for state-run Steel Authority of India (SAIL).


"Lanco Infratech has emerged as the successful bidder in the bidding for selection of the mine developer and operator by SAIL for development, mining and operation of Tasra Open Cast Project and development of associated captive power project," Lanco said in a BSE filing today.

"The company received Letter of Acceptance to this effect from SAIL," it added.

The project envisages coal extraction at the Tasra mine located at Jharia in Jharkhand, with geological reserves of about 250 million tonnes.

It includes setting up of a coal washery and the development and operation of a captive power project for SAIL with a 200-300 MW capacity based on secondary products from the proposed Tasra washery, Lanco said.
