High Court nod for CBI probe into AP illegal iron ore mining
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the allegations of illegal mining of iron ore being carried out by the Obulapuram Mining Company.
The two-member bench of chief justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and justice Vilas V Afzalpurkar set aside an earlier stay on the Central Bureau of Investigation probe, imposed by a single judge bench of the same court.
The court order will empower the CBI to look into the aspects of not only illegal mining in areas not leased to Obulapuram Mining Company but also evasion of royalty, road tax and other revenues of over . 3,200 crore to the AP exchequer.
