Government grants mining lease to MOIL

State-owned manganese ore producer Moil Ltd today said the Mines Ministry has granted it a mining lease in Madhya Pradesh.

NEW DELHI: State-owned manganese ore producer Moil Ltd today said the Mines Ministry has granted it a mining lease in Madhya Pradesh.

"Government of India, Ministry of Mines has granted approval of mining lease for manganese ore over an area of 48.974 Ha land in Village Lugma, Tehsil Baihar, Dist- Balaghat (MP) in favour of MOIL Ltd," the company said in a BSE filing.

The country's largest manganese ore producer said it has received a communication on the mining lease from Mineral Resource Department, Madhya Pradesh.

"The said area falls under Ukwa Mine of MOIL. Now, the company will take necessary steps, as may be required, for execution of the mining lease with the Government of Madhya Pradesh," it said.

MOIL operates 10 mines, six located in Maharashtra and four in the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. The company caters 50 per cent of the country's manganese ore requirement.
