The Directorate of Mines and Geology, Goa, issued a notification on June 6 ordering the halting of transportation of ore by road until further orders as the monsoon season has begun in the state.

“Transportation of ore by roads during monsoon season may jeopardise the safety of the citizens using the road network in the vicinity of mining leases or transport routes of such minerals,” the department said in its notification.

In the interest of public safety, the transportation of minerals has been stopped until further notice, except for the captive/domestic consumption or on the specific order of the collector due to the position of jetty vis-a-vis as mining lease, it said.
