Ess Dee Aluminium bags two global quality awards

Ess Dee Aluminum, one of the country's leading aluminium foil manufacturers, has bagged two awards in International Concept On Quality Convention.

KOLKATA: Ess Dee Aluminum, one of the country's leading aluminium foil manufacturers, has bagged two awards in International Concept On Quality Convention. The global event, held in Sri Lanka between October 12-14, 2014, witnessed more than 200 teams participating from 13 countries. This included the Asian giant s like Samsung, Japan’s Toyota Motor, China’s Aero Space and universities from Malaysia and Singapore.

“We are proud to have won two awards in International Concept On Quality Convention. Inspite of being a first time participant, we accomplished this feat at the international level. We look forward to participating in the International Convention on QC Circles next year too,” Mr Sudip Datta, chairman, Ess Dee Aluminium said.

The International Concept On Quality Convention is organised by the Quality Circle Forum.Two teams from Ess Dee participated and both the teams got excellence awards, silvers, for their Projects in Six Sigma. One of the Project was Reduction in Waste and the other was Reduction in Downtime.

Incidentally, Quality Control Circles is a floor level problem solving mechanism which originated in Japan in the 1960s. It encouraged non-executive level employees to get together in groups, select problems to be tackled, analyze and determine root causes following a systematic method, generate alternative solutions, select and implement the best and standardize the new method if successful.
