Efforts being made to revive Bharat Gold mines

The government is serious about reviving the Bharat Gold Mines Ltd (BGML) in Kolar and all efforts are being made in this regard, Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh said on Tuesday.

BANGALORE: The government is serious about reviving the Bharat Gold Mines Ltd (BGML) in Kolar and all efforts are being made in this regard, Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh said on Tuesday.

Unveiling the BEML railcoach unit-II, set up on BGML land in Kolar Gold Fields, about 65 km from here, he said, "We are very serious about BGML's revival. Factual evaluation of assets is being done and once it is completed, global tenders will be floated."

In response to BEML's CMD V R S Natarajan offering employment to BGML employees on a contract basis, he said "we at the Centre will also ensure that whatever is best possible is given to the employees of BGML."

Minister of state for Road Transport and Railways K H Muniyappa appealed to Singh to see that the revival process is speeded up.
