Coalgate: IMG recommends penalising JSPL, de-allocating one more block

NEW DELHI: An official panel reviewing coal blocks has recommended penalising Jindal Steel & Power and Corporate Ispat for slow development of their coal blocks.

The panel has also recommended de-allocation of Bihar Sponge's Macherkunda coal block, sources said.

The inter-ministerial group (IMG) will meet again on Wednesday to suggest action against about five coal blocks, the sources said after the panel's meeting onTuesday.

On Tuesday, the coal ministry approved IMG's recommendations to scrap mining licences of nine companies including SKS Ispat & Power and Bhushan Steel.
