Coal India misses target, records 452 MT output in FY 2013

State-run Coal India has achieved an output of only 452.5 million tonnes for the just-concluded fiscal, missing the target of 464 MT.

NEW DELHI: State-run Coal India has achieved an output of only 452.5 million tonnes for the just-concluded fiscal, missing the target of 464 MT.

"We produced 452.5 MT of coal in the last fiscal. While the PSU's offtake in 2012-13 was 465 MT," Coal India ( CIL) Chairman and Managing Director S Narsing Rao said.

The Coal Ministry had earlier said CIL would miss the production target for the FY 2013 by 2-3 MT. It had attributed the shortfall to workers strike and other issues.

The Coal ministry has set a production target of 482 MT and off-take of 492 MT for CIL for the current fiscal.

The company had earlier said the target had been set in an MoU signed by the company's CMD and Coal Secretary S K Srivastava.
