Coal consumers seek PM's intervention on price hike by CIL
Coal Consumers' Association of India today said they have sought Prime Minister's intervention for some remedial action against sharp increase in coal price by Coal India Ltd.
"We have written to Prime Minister for his intervention about the sharp increase in coal price by CIL," Association President P K Chand said here.
"We are yet get response from his office for a meeting to highlight our plight," ex-CIL chairman and a member of the association Shashi Kumar said.
The association will demand to end discrimination of coal price for the regulated sector like fertiliser and power beside demanding to create a coal regulator.
Coal consumers claimed the input cost for coal had spurt owing to increase in grade A and B coal price by as high as 150 per cent.
Chand said for cement industry the impact of coal price would be Rs 9-10 per bag, while, 15-20 per cent for steel sector.
