CIL subsidiaries reported cumulative loss of Rs 3,449 cr
As many as seven subsidiaries of public-sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported a cumulative loss of Rs 3,449.01 crore for the previous fiscal, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
NEW DELHI: As many as seven subsidiaries of public-sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported a cumulative loss of Rs 3,449.01 crore for the previous fiscal, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao said in a written reply that seven CIL subsidiaries had reported that 327 coal mines were reeling under losses during 2006-07.
Eastern Coal Fields, with more than 100 mines, reported the maximum loss of Rs 1,164.44 crore during the previous fiscal, followed by Bharat Coking Coal with a loss of Rs 969.53 crore from 87 non-performing mines.
Other CIL subsidiaries reporting unprofitable operations included Central Coal Fields, Western Coalfields, South Eastern Coalfields, Mahanadi Coalfields and North Eastern Coalfields.
