Auction of 32 mines has surpassed CAG estimate: Government

The government today said the revenue gained from the recently-held coal auctions of 32 mines had surpassed the estimates of the Comptroller and Auditor General for 200 mines.

NEW DELHI: The government today said the revenue gained from the recently-held coal auctions of 32 mines had surpassed the estimates of the Comptroller and Auditor General for 200 mines.

During a discussion in Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said while the estimates of CAG with regard to coal mines was around Rs 1.86 lakh crore in relation to 200 mines, auctions of 32 mines alone has yielded around Rs 2 lakh crore.

When Jaitley was speaking, Power and Coal minister Piyush Goyal mentioned something.

Continuing his speech, Jaitley said there was a bit of "extra enthusiam" on his side as Power and Coal minister is "enthused" as he had proved that the estimate of former C&AG Vinod Rai was less than actually redeemed.
