Valecha Engineering wins Rs 176 crore tunnel contract from NHPC

NEW DELHI: Infrastructure development firm Valecha Engineering today said it has won a Rs 176 crore contract from NHPC for civil work of a tunnel in Himachal Pradesh.

Valecha Engineering has bagged a project from NHPC "for construction of balance civil works of head race tunnel...of Parbati HE project, stage II in Himachal Pradesh worth Rs 176.29 crore," the company said in a filing to the BSE.

With the award of the project, the tunnelling segment "constitutes 10 per cent of the order book of the company", Valecha said.

It said as the company moves ahead it is focusing on getting an appropriate project mix involving leading edge infrastructure technologies.

The company scrip closed at Rs 34.35, down 2.14 per cent, on the BSE.
