Tractors India draws Rs 200-cr expansion plan

TIL Ltd, popularly known as Tractors India, said it is on a Rs 200-crore expansion drive and will also introduce four new products this year.

MUMBAI: Leading manufacturers and marketers of cranes TIL Ltd, popularly known as Tractors India, said it is on a Rs 200-crore expansion drive and will also introduce four new products this year.

"We've already invested Rs 150 crore in the first phase of the upcoming plant at Kharagpur near Kolkata. Another Rs 50 crore is being pumped into our mother plant in Kolkata to up capacity. The Kharagpur plant, which will roll out aggregate crushers, will be commissioned by mid-2011," TIL Director and President material handling solutions business Satish Bhatnagar told PTI here today.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the four-day BC India Trade Fair (Bauma-Conexpo 2011) that got off yesterday.

Bhatnagar said the over Rs 1,000-crore (FY10) TIL will be the first domestic company to launch 70-tonne truck mounted cranes, which is being catered to by Chinese imports now. These cranes will be rolled out from Kolkata mother plant.

He said another focus area is the 10-tonne truck mounted crane segment, which it expects to be the largest segment. TIL expects to capture 20 per cent of this area soon.

The third new offering from TIL, which has its main rivals in the Tata Group firm Voltas, and Escorts, is in the form of aggregate crushers. These new products will be rolled out from the Kharagpur plant, he said.

The fourth product from the company is the screening solutions, which will be an import from its American partner. Screening solutions are used to make artificial sand, asphalt chips, iron ore fines and concrete stones.
