Siemens wins Rs 83 crore order from Indian Railways

Siemens will design, supply and install 40 alternating current traction systems for dual-cab high horsepower diesel engine locomotives.

MUMBAI: Siemens has bagged an order worth Rs 83 crore from the Indian Railways for supply to its diesel locative works unit in Varanasi, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

Siemens will design, supply and install 40 alternating current traction systems for dual-cab high horsepower diesel engine locomotives.

The AC traction systems will be produced at Siemens’ Nashik Factory.

The Indian arm of the German capital goods company has identified the railways a key growth area in India.
