Power and automation group ABB has announced that Ravi Uppal, presently Head of South Asia Region and Country Manager for ABB in India, will take on the role of President Global Markets.

BANGALORE: Power and automation group ABB has announced that Ravi Uppal, presently Head of South Asia Region and Country Manager for ABB in India, will take on the role of President Global Markets with effect from July one and be appointed to ABB's Group Executive Committee.

As part of this role, Uppal will be responsible for markets across all ABB regions and countries as well as the Group Account Management function and will report to Fred Kindle, Group President and CEO, in this capacity.

He takes over this role from Dinesh Paliwal, who leaves ABB at the end of June, an ABB statement said.

As part of ABB's new organisation put in place since 2006, eight regions were created to manage business line and functional roles effectively across geographies and maximise synergies.

Uppal would continue as Country Manager India and Head South Asia Region until further announcement, it said.

"Ravi Uppal has been instrumental in ABB's successful performance in India. He is an accomplished leader with strong customer orientation and great execution skills," said Kindle in the statement.
