NEW DELHI: State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India plans to diversify into engineering, procurement and construction services in India and overseas. The company’s director (personnel) VM Kaul said the company was also open to partnering private companies for the purpose on caseto-case basis.

The Corp also plans expansion in Asian and African countries by offering consultancy services and acquisition of power transmission assets, he said. "At present we are an India centric country, but we expect saturation in the next four-five years. The company earns 94% of its revenue from electricity transmission business, while consultancy services and telecom businesses bring the rest. In 2010-11 , the company earned about Rs 260 crore through consultancy services and it expects the business to grow 10% annually.
