MoU signed between PSG Institute of Technology and Festo India for starting Industrial Automation Centre

PSGiTech has spent more than Rs 35 lakh for creation of the facility and Festo has provided equipment worth Rs 11 lakh free of cost for the benefit students.

COIMBATORE: PSG Institute of Technology and Research Centre here has signed a MoU with Bengaluru-based Festo India Pvt Ltd, for starting Festo Industrial Automation Centre.

The Centre will offer its students direct access to Festo's industrial knowledge and technologies and these learning systems will place students in real life situations and enable them to quickly gain practical experience of high tech components used in factory and process automation, an Institute release said today.

PSGiTech has spent more than Rs 35 lakh for creation of the facility and Festo has provided equipment worth Rs 11 lakh free of cost for the benefit students.

The MOU was signed yesterday by senior management officials of both the institutions, it said.

It will organize students training and 'PSGiTech Festo automation contest' for various Engineering college students in order to encourage their interest in Industrial Automation, PSGiTech principal, Dr P V Mohanram said .

The Centre will offer training programmes for teachers, students, practicing engineers and technicians and provide comprehensive training in mechatronics, automation technologies, process optimization, information technologies and communication, Festo Managing Director R Joshi said.
