McNally Bharat Engineering Co mulls pact with engg majors for N-projects
The engineering arm of the B M Khaitan group, McNally Bharat Engineering Co, is looking to enter into an agreement with global engineering majors, French engineering and nuclear power giant Areva SA to offer EPC services for nuclear power projects.
Speaking to mediapersons at a meeting held in Kolkata on Monday, McNally Bharat Engineering managing director Srinivash Singh said: "McNally Bharat and the prospective partner will offer EPC services for conventional power projects. Subsequently, the alliance may get extended to nuclear power projects. We are also planning to enter into new areas like oil & gas."
Incidentally, the French government-owned Areva has entered into an agreement with Nuclear Power Corp to study the possibility of building some six nuclear reactors in India. Elaborating on the proposed restructuring plan, Mr Singh said that PwC hopes to submit a detailed report within the next six months.
Over the last year-and-a-half, the Khaitans have already reconstructed McNally Bharat and its subsidiary McNally Sayaji Engineering by transferring McNally Bharat’s product division to the latter. Subsequently, it bought out German major KHD Humboldt Wedag International GmbH’s global coal & minerals technology business spread across Germany, South Africa, China, Russia and India.
