L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division has received several orders in Saudi Arabia to build a 380 kV substation and transmission lines, the company said in a stock exchange notification.
L&T classifies a large order as one that has a contract value of Rs 2,500–5,000 crore.
The engineering giant notified that the contracts will be carried forward through two sets of orders.
The contracts include the construction of a 380 kV transformers and reactors, and subsystems for power system protection, control, automation, telecommunication, HVAC and firefighting.
The second set of orders involves the development of 380 kV overhead transmission lines stretching more than 420 kilometres in total.
"As part of its National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), Saudi Arabia is upgrading its electricity grid to support a surge in renewable energy projects. Transmission lines and substations are vital to scaling up and strengthening the country’s overall power infrastructure," read the statement from the engineering giant.
L&T shares were trading at Rs 3,985.50 on the BSE, up Rs 12.65 or 0.32% at 10:02 am.
