L&T Oman wins orders worth Rs 875 crore

The orders are for construction of two road projects on the Wadikabir-Darsait road and Mahlah-Ghubbrat al Tam-Ismaiyah road.

MUMBAI: L&T Oman, a subsidiary of domestic engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro, today said it has bagged two orders worth Rs 875 crore from the Muscat Municipality and Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Sultanate of Oman.

The orders are for construction of two road projects on the Wadikabir-Darsait road and Mahlah-Ghubbrat al Tam-Ismaiyah road, the company said in a statement here.

The Wadikabir-Darsait project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months and involves the design and construction of flyovers and underpasses along the road.

The Mahlah-Ghubbat al Tam-Ismaiyah project will be completed in 41 months and involves 45 km of road work, four bridges and cross-drainage work.

Set to meet the highest international standards, these projects are expected to significantly streamline traffic.

The orders were won amid competition from international firms, the company said.

Previous contracts bagged by the company in this sector in the Middle East include the Al Sowah cable-stayed bridge and the Sheikh Khalifa Interchange in Abu Dhabi, besides the Al Khaud Interchange in Muscat.
