L&T expands presence in China
Indian Engineering firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has expanded its presence in China with a new facility to manufacture industrial valves.
The valves made in China would complement L&T's existing range of industrial valves and help the company meet the needs of its growing client base of global oil majors, its Chairman and Managing Director A M Naik said at the inauguration of the new manufacturing unit.
The valve unit is the third factory of the $5 billion group in China.
Naik had visited company's Rubber Machinery Company Ltd on November 20 at Jiaonan in Shangdong Province, a company statement said. It supplies rubber machineries to domestic and international tyre companies.
Shangdong Province is home to 70 per cent of the tyre companies in China.
During his meeting with Yang Dongliang, Vice Mayor of Jiaonan city and officials, Naik spoke about L&T's commitment for further development of this region, the statement said.
Naik also visited the company's Wuxi plant to celebrate its first anniversary of operations.
The facility in the booming east Chinese city of Wuxi, started with an investment of USD 11 million, makes high-end switchgear, L&T stated.
