L&T bags HPCL's order worth over Rs 7,000 crore

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering will execute the order for residue up-gradation facility for HPCL. The order entails engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a RUF for Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project at the Vizag Refinery.

MUMBAI: Larsen & Toubro's hydrocarbon arm has bagged a project worth over Rs 7,000 crore from state run-Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, the engineering major said Wednesday.

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering will execute the order for residue up-gradation facility (RUF) for HPCL. The order entails engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a RUF for Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project at the Vizag Refinery.

"This plant will enable HPCL to convert the heaviest oils into high-quality Euro 6 diesel while simultaneously eliminating fuel oil production, as well as increasing feedstock and product flexibility. The unit is being implemented for the first time in India," L&T said in a statement.

The RUF plant is licensed by Chevron Lummus Global and has a capacity of 3.55 million ton per annum.

L&T is already working on HPCL's Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project; it is executing two packages, namely Crude Distillation Unit / Vacuum Distillation Unit and Full Conversion Hydrocracker Unit.
