L&T awarded construction of Metro Rail depot works
The Chennai Metro Rail has awarded the construction of depot works to Larsen and Toubro Ltd at a cost of Rs 198.10 crore.
The depot would be spread over a 26-hectare of land and would serve the purpose of berthing the trains during non-operational hours and for carrying out various maintenance cycles, Chennai Metro Rail said in a statement.
"A state-of-the-art operation control centre would be located in the depot at Koyambedu, from where all train movements and operational activities would be closely monitored," it said.
The construction work began early this month and would be completed in 36 months, the statement added.
