MUMBAI: KEI Industries on Thursday said it has purchased about five acres of land behind its existing cable facilities at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

The land has been acquired to embark on further expansion of the existing production of Low Tension/ High Tension cables and also to upgrade HT power cable manufacture up to 132 KV through the installment of balancing equipments, KEI industries informed the BSE.

The cost of this project is estimated to be in the range of Rs 30-35 crores for purchase of land, plant and machinery. The company said the expansion and upgradation when completed would help it report higher utilisation levels, facilitate better operational controls, translate into significant savings on manufacturing and administrative overheads.

Additionally, armed with a much higher capacity KEI Industries would be able to take on and executing high value EPC projects. This project is expected to commence operations within the next 7-8 months, it added.
