India to organise conference on Indian firms' role in Kuwait's developmental process

DUBAI: India will tomorrow organise a conference in Kuwait to discuss the role of Indian Engineering Procurement and Construction companies in the Arab country's developmental process, strengthening bilateral trade.

The aim of the conference is to bring together various stakeholders in the industry under one umbrella, Indian Embassy in Kuwait said in a statement yesterday.

"India has consistently been among Kuwait's top ten trading partners with bilateral trade of over USD 14.58 billion during the Financial Year 2014-15. The Government of Kuwait has embarked on its Five-Year Development Plan (2015-2020) covering diverse sectors," said the statement.

Indian EPC companies such as Larsen & Toubro, Shapoorji Pallonji, Dodsal Group, Essar Projects, Punj Lloyd, Simplex Projects, Kalpataru Power Transmission, Afcons Infrastructures and The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) are executing various projects in Kuwait, it said.

Some of these companies have been operating for several years and are well-known in Kuwait.

In the last two years alone, Indian EPC companies have won contracts worth over 1.8 billion Kuwaiti dinar ($5.9 billion) in Kuwait.

The representatives of these companies would give a presentation on their capabilities in execution of various projects at the Conference slated to be held tomorrow.
