Greaves Cotton inaugurates Rs 50 crore greenfield plant for light engines
The new plant significantly adds to its total capacity for such engines which have applications in the automotive, power gen and agricultural sectors.
With this plant, the company’s total production capacity of light engines will go up to more than 3,75,000 per annum, making it among the world’s largest manufacturers of single cylinder diesel engines, according to the statement.
This plant will manufacture both single and twin cylinder engines, supplying primarily to existing as well as new three and four wheeled small commercial vehicle manufacturers. These engines can also be used in power gensets, pump sets, marine and host of other industrial and agricultural applications.
Speaking at the inauguration, Greaves Cotton chairman, Gautam Thapar said, "Greaves Cotton set up its first plant for manufacturing light weight internal combustion engines in Chikalthana 1975."
