Elecon Engg secures Rs 229 cr contract from NTPC

MUMBAI: Elecon Engineering Company has been awarded a contract worth Rs 229.09 crore for supply and installation of coal handling plant package for National Capital Termal Power Project (NCTPP) from state-run NTPC.

Elecon Engineering would execute the contract for National Thermal Power Corporation's project(2 x 490MW) at Dadri Stage II, it informed the BSE.

The NCTPP project at Dadri is a part of a long-term plan, which envisages NTPC becoming a 75,000 MW Plus company by 2017.

The 980 MW Dadri project is slated for commissioning by 2012.

Shares of the company rose 7 per cent to Rs 415 on the BSE.
