Dongfang Electrical plans India service center

BEIJING: Dongfang Electrical Machinery, China's third-largest maker of power-generation equipment, will open a service center in India to gain market share as demand for power climbs in the world's second-fastest growing major economy.

The company will invest $25.2 million in the center, which will handle spare-part sales, repairs and training related to the company's power-station equipment, according to Dongfang Electrical.

Dongfang Electrical and its two major Chinese competitors Shanghai Electric Group and Harbin Power Equipment are increasing sales to India as the country expands electricity- generation capacity to meet demand.
