NEW DELHI: Danieli India, part of Italy-based steel designing and engineering services major Danieli & C, would open its second office in Pune with an investment of Rs 30 crore and increase the number of engineers at its Kolkata office by 40% by early next year.

The move underscores the company’s commitment to its growing business volumes, which would almost double its turnover to Rs 1,300 crore in the next one year, from Rs 650 crore currently.

“We will invest in skill set and manpower development to enhance our Indian operations. We are finalising the site for our new engineering office in Pune that would be in place by the next year,” said Danieli & C executive vice-president Franco Alzetta.

“Initially, we will hire close to 40 people, which will include skilled engineers and fresh graduates of reputed engineering institutes. We are also planning to collaborate with various universities of Mumbai and Pune to run joint engineering programmes in future,” he added.

Since the company has already bagged orders worth Rs 900 crore this year, it has aggressive plans to expand its human resource team. Danieli’s Kolkata office currently has a 200-strong employee base in software, engineering and project management services.

The company plans to increase the number to 280 by the next year. The company is also targeting a marketshare of 50% in steel designing and engineering services by the end of the next year. Danieli’s some of the major clients include Steel Authority of India, Bhushan Steel and the Jindal Group.
