Business visitors to cross 50,000 at ACMEE

Chennai: Manufacturing is the buzzword with Chennai playing host to the ninth biennial edition of International Machine Tools and Auto Components exhibition -- ACMEE 2010. The five-day B2B event began on Thursday.

Over 420 exhibitors, including 80 from 21 countries, are taking part in biggest engineering exhibition that is aimed at facilitating business. A record 50,000-plus business visitors are expected at the exhibition, where the latest manufacturing technology is being showcased.

The product profile includes CNC, special purpose machines, auto components and industrial robotics. For the first time, delegations from Korea, Taiwan and the US too are participating in the event that is aimed at upgrading knowledge.

It is note-worthy to mention that the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association, the key event organiser, houses a number of units in the Ambattur industrial estate that generate a turnover of over Rs 4,500 crore.

Incidentally, ACMEE 2010 has the approval of India Trade Promotion Organisation, that has facilitated duty free access of foreign exhibits for the event.
