BHEL unit PE&SD clocks Rs 7,072-crore turnover in FY12

BHEL's Project Engineering and Systems Division (PE&SD) here has achieved a turnover of Rs 7,072 crore and a profit of Rs 1,838 crore in 2011-12.

HYDERABAD: State-run power equipment maker BHEL's Project Engineering and Systems Division (PE&SD) here has achieved a turnover of Rs 7,072 crore and a profit of Rs 1,838 crore in 2011-12.

Despite a global economic slowdown, especially in the power sector, the Division has achieved a Y-o-Y growth of 13 per cent in turnover during the last fiscal, R K Wanchoo, Executive Director, PE&SD, told media persons here last night.

As part of capacity enhancement and modernisation plan, the unit has augmented its facilities and machinery by investing more than Rs 900 crore, Wanchoo said.

Research and development has been the focused area where the unit has undertaken development projects leading to introduction of new products, technologies and improvement in existing products. It invested Rs 170 crore in R&D and filed 31 applications for patent and copyrights in 2011-12, he said.
