BHEL executing Rs 3,395-crore order for Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Utpadan Nigam

BHEL received orders of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for Renovation & Modernisation (R&M) of Obra thermal power station in the state.

NEW DELHI: The government today said state- run BHEL is executing a Rs 3,395 crore order in Uttar Pradesh for UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.

"BHEL is presently executing an order of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for two 500 units of Anpara thermal power station located in Sonebhadra district valued at Rs 3,395 crore," Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

The scope of work for BHEL includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of Boiler, Turbine and Generator Package along with associated auxiliaries, some balance of plant and civil works," he said.

However, he added that the order excludes building switchyard, water system and coal handling plant.

BHEL has also received the following orders of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for Renovation & Modernisation (R&M) of Obra thermal power station in the state.

The Minister had earlier informed the Parliament that BHEL is facing some difficulties on account of the delay of new and under construction power projects.

He added that his Ministry is also developing a 10-year Mission Plan for the development of domestic electrical industry in general.

It is in talks with Ministry of Power regarding feasibility of having a condition of Phased Manufacturing Programme in case of orders for Super-critical power plants.
