BHEL bags Rs 774 crore ONGC order

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has secured Rs 774 crore contract from Oil and Natural Gas Corp for supply of onshore drilling rigs.

NEW DELHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has secured Rs 774 crore contract from Oil and Natural Gas Corp for supply of onshore drilling rigs. The order envisages supply of 6 onshore drilling rigs with AC drives, a company statement said.

For the contract equipment will be manufactured by BHEL's Hyderabad plant, while the electrics will be manufactured by the company's Bhopal plant.

BHEL has so far delivered 84 rigs of which 71 rigs have been supplied to ONGC and 13 to Oil India Ltd. BHEL is in the process of refurbishing and upgrading seven more rigs of ONGC.
