BANGALORE: City-based defence equipment Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has announced a tie-up with US-headquartered Terex Corporation, USA, for production and supply of rear-dump trucks. The payload of these trucks would range from 120 tonne to 360 tonne payload capacities.
A press release issued by the company said that the tie-up would help BEML to expand its product offering to the mining sector. It has already tied up with Bucyrus International, USA, for manufacturing Rope Shovels upto 42 cubic metre capacity & walking draglines.
BEML has successfully supplied and erected five Draglines for the coal sector so far.
As a part of its strategy to tap more business from this sector, BEML has been handling annual maintenance and service contracts with coal companies.
For the six-month period quarter ended September 30, 2006 BEML had sales of Rs 1,013.5 crore with net profit of Rs 51.5 crore and is projecting a top-line of Rs 2,600 crore for the fiscal ending March 31, 2007.
