IECC aims nearly Rs 10,000 cr order book by fiscal-end
IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company (IECC), earlier known as Maytas Infra, today said it expects its order book to touch Rs 10,000 crore mark by this fiscal-end.
"Our current orderbook backlog is Rs 7,700 crore with the addition of around Rs 2,500 crore in 2010-11. This is likely to be closer to Rs 10,000 crore by the end of current fiscal," IECC Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Vimal Kaushik told PTI.
IECC hopes to get the additional orders mainly from irrigation, roads and building sectors among others.
Its two promoters, IL&FS Group and Saudi Binladen Group (SBG), have assured the company to support with Rs 8,000 crore worth of sub-orders in the next three years, he said.
Of the current order book, Rs 5,000 crore is from the irrigation sector, Rs 2,000 crore for building roads and the rest is from the real estate sector.
"These orders are to be executed within a period of 36 months," Kaushik said.
Talking about expansion of operations, Kaushik said that hydel power plant construction was an area the company has been looking at now and has got sufficient knowledge and expertise to execute projects.
"We have presence in the transmission and distribution areas of the power sector. We plan to construct hydel power plants now. We will bid for such projects," he said.
