HCC Concessions bags contract worth Rs 800 cr from NHAI

Infrastructure firm HCC today said one of its subsidiaries has bagged contract worth Rs 800 crore from the highways authority for the six-laning project of Vadodara-Surat section of NH-8.

The project, awarded to HCC Concessions Ltd, includes construction of a new four lane extra dosed bridge across the Narmada river in Gujarat, Hindustan Construction Company said in a statement.

"The estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs 800 crore. The concession period for the project is 12 years, including a construction period of 30 months," HCC said, adding that the project is on toll basis under the National Highways Development Programme-V.

It said the project is among the final stretches to be expanded to six-lane capacity on NH-8, which connects Delhi to Mumbai.

"This will be the seventh project in HCC Concessions portfolio, which includes six other NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) concessions -- one annuity and five toll based projects," HCC said.

For the year ended March 31, 2012, HCC had posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 530.09 and net sales of Rs 8,157.63 crore.
