The Bombay High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by Lavasa Corporation against Environment Ministry's notice till December 6, but did not vacate the stay to the construction at the hill station.

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by Lavasa Corporation against Environment Ministry's notice till December 6, but did not vacate the stay to the construction at the hill station.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests had issued showcause notice to Lavasa, an HCC group company, alleging that it had not secured environmental clearances before starting the construction activity on the area admeasuring some 5,000 hectares.

Lavasa has challenged this notice. Its lawyer today contended that Lavasa being "a tourism project", it did not need the environmental clearances under 2004 notification issued by MoEF.

The notice was issued on November 25.
